This last year our Current Branch membership stood at 27 members one down on last year. We currently have what we believe are the two youngest associate members of the Guild of Vergers in Mark and Paul Russell.

The committee were delighted that our suggestion to The Central Council that Peter Hudson be awarded a Life Membership of the Guild was accepted and the award was made at our Alban Supper by Mike Golby our Area Leader on behalf of The Central Council.

The Branch functions although not always well attended they have been enjoyed by those who have attended the functions and I would thank the Team from Leighton Buzzard for hosting our Alban Supper this year, if you did not attend you missed a real treat.

I attended part time the Annual Training Conference at London Colney this year along with a few of the Branch members, having managed to take time off work I will recommend that if possible you attend for at least part of the week, if only to meet fellow virgers from other parts of the country.

The Afternoon tour around the church of St George & St Andrew at Stevenage was quite well attended and it was a delightful church fabricated in modern materials but also having the appearance of a more traditional style of architecture. It was also more than interesting to discover that the local museum was ensconced with the area that I would call the crypt of the building. I would also like to state that the church organized splendid refreshments for our members and made us welcome.

I would make a plea for any member to prepare and send an article to our webmaster for inclusion on the branch website, even if it only means that I am not looking at the same items all the time. Web sites are of very little use if they are not up to date in carrying the correct information, so I will make a plea that you who have internet access look at particularly the branch web site and feedback information to Philip on also use this e-mail address for any item you would like to be published on the site

Our Christmas celebration this year was again held at the West Herts College of Further Education in their training Restaurant with 17 members and friends attending.
